Navy retrieves abandoned stock of Kendu leaves weighing over 300kg from Marawila sea

The Sri Lanka Navy recovered over 300kg (wet weight) of Kendu leaves during a search operation in the sea area off Marawila over the weekend.

A naval craft, attached to the Western Naval Command, located 10 suspicious sacks adrift in the Marawila sea area and retrieved this consignment of Kendu leaves, believed to have been abandoned by smugglers, due to heightened naval surveillance in the area.

The consignment of Kendu leaves was handed over to the Narcotics Control Office at the Colombo Harbour for legal action.
