CJ pays glowing tribute to Nihal Jayamanne

Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya PC yesterday paid a glowing tribute to the late President’s Counsel Nihal Jayaamanne posthmously for yeoman service the latter had rendered to legal profession for decades. He did so after unveiling the bust of Jaymanne at the Colombo Law Library.
The Chief Justice said that the late Jayamanne’s service to the legal fraternity was immeasurable and the latter had served as a lawyer for more than 50 years. He was a “A true friend and great human being,” he added.
The Chief Justice also recalled that Jayamanne had been an artist, poet and vocalist.
President’s Counsel, K. Kanag Iswaran, a close associate of the late Jayamanne, urged young lawyers to visit the Library and learn the history of the busts there. He requested the Bar Association President to provide an opportunity to the students to learn about the Library and its surroundings.
Kanag Iswaran, also said that his dear departed friend had been a nature lover and had never seen him raising his voice or speaking harsh words.
