St. De La Salle International School gets a basketball court

Pramukh Fernando is welcomed by the students of St. De La Salle International School, Wattala for the opening of the new basketball court.

St. De La Salle International School, Wattala is broadening its wings and last week took another huge step forward as the school opened a new basketball court.

The court built at a cost of Rs. five million is a generous gift from Pramukh Fernando who had his education at St. Anthony’s College, Wattala under the De La Salle Brothers. Pramukh, a telecommunications engineer, played basketball and football for St. Anthony’s, Wattala, a stronghold of the game of basketball.

The court was built and donated as a mark of respect for well-respected basketball coach Jayantha Ranawana, who had coached the game at St. Anthony’s College, Wattala for over three decades on an honorary basis.

Apart from the students who are playing basketball at St. De La Salle International School, Wattala, students from nearby schools also make use of the new facility.
