The depression over the island has moved away from the country yesterday (02) night as a low-pressure area. Thus, it is expected that its impact on the Island’s weather will lessen from today.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Northern, Eastern and Uva provinces and in Polonnaruwa district.
Sowers or thundershowers will occur elsewhere during the afternoon or night.
A few showers are likely in the Southern Province in the morning too.
Fairly heavy showers above 50mm are likely at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western, Uva and Southern provinces.
Naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant while engaging in marine activities in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankasanthurai to Matara via Mannar, Puttalam and Colombo.
General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Showery condition is expected to enhance in the Eastern, Northern and Uva provinces during the coming days, due to the development of a low-level atmospheric disturbance to the East of Sri Lanka.
Showers will occur at times in the Eastern, Central, Northern, North-central and Uva provinces and in Hambantota district. Fairly heavy showers above 75 mm are likely at some places in the Central and Uva provinces and in Batticaloa and Ampara districts.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places elsewhere after 2.00 p.m. Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in these areas. A few showers may occur in the coastal areas of the North-western and Western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.
