Referring to allegations levelled against him in Parliament on Thursday, MP Tissa Kuttiarachchi raising a privilege issue yesterday said that he had no links to the Rural Capital Bank. He said that the bank had been in existence before he entered active politics.

The bank had 130 branches not 171 branches as MP Chaminda Wijesiri said and had provided jobs to more than 1,000 youth, he said.

Samagi Jana Balavegaya MP Wijesiri raising a point of order said that it was better if MP Kuttiarahchci was telling the truth, but the Speaker should not permit the latter to tell lies taking cover behind parliamentary privileges. MP Kuttiarachchi was using a double cab belonging to the Rural Capital Bank as his personal vehicle and came to Parliament in the same vehicle. The Speaker could ascertain the truth by checking the ownership of the vehicle, MP Wijesiri said.
