GCE AL: Old Anandians to recognize top achievers

The Old Anandians’ 70-75 and 2007 groups has for the 16th consecutive year organized – “Nena Harasara 2021” to recognize students who excelled at the G.C.E. (A. Level) Examination – 2021 and to felicitate the members of the Tutorial Staff whose untiring efforts and devotion helped the students to excel.
The Ceremony will be held today at 7.30 am at the Kularatne Hall – Ananda College, with the patronage of the Principal Lal Disanayaka, Management Committee, and the Tutorial Staff. As in the previous years, the Event will be graced by distinguished old Anandians who have excelled in their respective disciplines to give recognition to the recipients who are being felicitated and to boost the morale and motivate the present student population to achieve greater heights. Prof. Nimal Rajapaksa – Deputy Vice Chancellor, SLIIT, Prof. Chathura Ratnayake – Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya, Prof. Kapila Rohan Attelle – University of Chicago, USA , Thilak de Silva – Deputy Chairman, Laugfs Holdings, Sumith Senanayaka – President Counsel, A.D.Ranjith Kumara – Senior Journalist and Mavan Gunathilake – Deputy CEO, Sanken Group
Ananda College recorded the highest percentage by any school country-wide, with 144 students gaining Distinctions in all three subjects; 62 students from the Mathematics Stream, 26 students from the Bio Stream, 46 students from the Commerce Stream, 04 students from the Engineering Technology Stream and 06 from the Arts Stream.

Eight dead dozens injured when SLTB bus goes down precipices in Gerandi Ella, Ramboda

It has been reported that Eight persons [five males and three females] have died when a SLTB bus operating from Kataragama to Kurunegala via Nuwara Eliya, veered off the road and went down a precipice early morning today (11) in Gerandi Ella in Ramboda along the Nuwara Eliya – Gampola main road, Police said.
At least 37 others injured in the accident, have been admitted to the Nuwar Eliya and Kothmale hospitals.
