Bourse indices move up despite West Asian unrest

CSE trading recorded some improvements yesterday despite an escalation in West Asian tensions.
Both indices moved upwards. The All Share Price Index went up by 7.33 points while the S and P SL20 rose by 3.6 points. Turnover stood at Rs 1.27 billion with four crossings.
Those crossings were; Sampath Bank crossed 500,000 shares to the tune of Rs 90 million; its shares traded at Rs 138, HNB 156,000 shares crossed for Rs 59 million; its shares traded at Rs 377, Hayleys 100,000 shares crossed to the tune of Rs 23 million; its shares sold at Rs
236 and Three Acre Farm 35000 shares crossed for Rs 22 million; its shares traded at Rs 625.
In the retail market top seven companies that mainly contributed to the turnover were; Browns Investments Rs 54 million (11.7 million shares traded), Asia Siyaka Rs 50 million (3.9 million shares traded), Commercial Credit and Finance Rs 60 million (587,000 shares traded), Hayleys Fiber Rs 57 million (333,000 shares traded), Hayleys Rs 55 million (273,000 shares traded) , Agstar Rs 49 million (3.6 million shares traded) and Sierra Cables Rs 42 million (1.2 million shares traded). During the day 51 million share volumes changed hands in 15858 transactions.
It is said that banking sector counters, especially Sampath Bank and Commercial Bank, performed well. Meanwhile SANASA Life Insurance disclosed that its debt securities will remain on the Watch List following a Qualified Opinion and Emphasis of Matter on concerns over its audited financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2025.
The company stated it is taking steps to resolve matters within 15 months by upgrading its credit rating to investment grade through an equity capital raising.
