Prevailing showery conditions are expected to be reduced in the Northern, North-central, Uva and Eastern provinces after today.
Several spells of showers may occur in the Northern province and Anuradhapura district while showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Eastern and Uva provinces and Hambantota, Polonnaruwa, Matale and Nuwara Eliya districts. Fairly heavy showers about 50 mm are likely at some places in Uva province and Polonnaruwa and Matale districts.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Galle and Matara districts after 1.00 p.m.
Winds will be easterly or north-easterly and wind speed will be (30-40) kmph. Wind speed may increase up to (50-60) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Colombo to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam and Mannar and from Galle to Batticaloa via Hambantota and Pottuvil.
The sea areas off the coasts extending from Colombo to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam and Mannar and in Galle to Batticaloa via Hambantota and Pottuvil can be rough at times but strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
The public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers

A low-pressure area may form over the southeastern Bay of Bengal today (13). Under the influence of this system, an increase in rainfall is expected over the island and the deep and shallow sea areas around the island during the next few days from today.
The general public, as well as the naval and fishing communities, are requested to be attentive to the future forecasts and bulletins issued by the Department of Meteorology in this regard.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces during the early hours of the morning.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in most parts of the island.
