Sheraton lights up with festive celebrations
This festive season, Sheraton Colombo Hotel prepares to light up the city and spread the holiday spirit, unveiling its inaugural Christmas and New Year celebrations, promising a magical season filled with joy, tradition, indulgence, and memorable moments said a press release.

Guests can savour the festive magic through a variety of thoughtfully curated events and activities that cater to everyone’s tastes. Kicking off the festivities, Sheraton Colombo hosted its very first Christmas Cake Mixing Ceremony and is set to light up its Christmas Tree, creating the perfect prelude to a season of cheer and community.
The Festive Goodies Market at the Ceylon Bake Shop at Sheraton on 1st December 2024, invites families and friends to step into a world of enchantment to indulge in sweet and savoury treats. The venue will feature a life-size Gingerbread House offering a unique photo opportunity, to soak in the festive ambiance and create picture-perfect memories.
The elegance of the season continues with a Festive High Tea, every weekend commencing on 30th November 2024, from 3pm to 5pm at the Colpetty Lounge. Priced at LKR 5,000 nett per person guests can indulge in an array of seasonal treats and signature beverages. It also presents the perfect setting for intimate gatherings over delectable seasonal treats and soothing teas, providing a sophisticated retreat from the holiday bustle.
The highlight of the season arrives on Christmas Eve with a lavish dinner buffet at Colombo Kitchen. On 24th December 2024, families can indulge in a sumptuous buffet. From 7pm to 11pm, priced at LKR 10,500 nett per person, the culinary spread promises to delight with festive flavours and seasonal specialties.

Turkish Airlines sets Guinness World records
Turkish Airlines has a 30-country lead over its closest competitor in this hard-to-break record
Turkish Airlines, which has held the title of flying to the most countries in the world since 2012, has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records™ as the record holder. The national flag carrier has successfully achieved the Guinness World Records™ title for the “Most Countries Flown to by an Airline”.
The record certificate was presented at Santiago Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport following Turkish Airlines’ inaugural flight to Chile. The ceremony was attended by Turkish Airlines executives and Guinness World Records™ officials.
Based on Guinness World Records™ evaluation criteria, Turkish Airlines set the record with flights to 120 countries, reflecting only the active routes of the past 12 months. Nevertheless, including temporarily suspended routes and today’s inaugural flight to Chile, Turkish Airlines’ flight network now spans 131 countries.
Commenting on the record, Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Ek?i stated, “We are delighted to be in Santiago, Chile, our newest route launched today, and to receive the Guinness World Records™ title for the Most Countries Flown to by an Airline. As the only airline to hold this distinction for over a decade, we proudly showcase the strength of our flight network and reinforce our mission to connect people, cultures, and destinations around the globe.”
