Universities reopen on April 27 for third- and fourth-year students

All universities would be reopened on April 27, Minister of Education, Prof. G.L Peiris said yesterday addressing the media in Colombo.

However, the universities would initially reopen only for third and fourth year students. “The university hostels are congested. It’s hard to maintain physical distancing there. That’s why initially we will reopen the universities for third and fourth years,” the Minister said.

The universities would be reopened for the first and second year students soon, and university administrators would issue guidelines thereon, the Minister said.
