Showers may occur in Rathnapura, Kalutara, Galle and Matara districts during the afternoon or night

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Rathnapura, Kalutara, Galle and Matara districts during the afternoon or night. Mainly fair weather will prevail elsewhere over the island.

Winds will be north-easterly and wind speed will be (20-30) kmph. Wind speed may increase up to (40-45) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Colombo via Puttalam and in sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota.

The sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Colombo via Puttalam and the sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota will be fairly rough at times. The other sea areas around the Island may be slight to moderate.

Near shore sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Galle via Puttalam and Colombo may experience rough seas due to increased wave period.

The South-West monsoon is gradually getting established over the island.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa,  Northern, North-western and Southern provinces and in Anuradhapura,  Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts. Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in the above areas.  Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva province and in Ampara and Batticaloa district after 2.00 pm.

Fairly strong winds about (30-40) kmph can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the central hills, the Northern, North-central, North-western and Southern provinces.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers
