Showery condition is expected to enhance to some extent in the south-western part of the Island in the next few days starting from today.
Several spells of showers will occur in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Galle and Matara districts. Showers or thundershowers will occur at a several places in Uva province and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the evening or night.
Winds will be south-westerly and speed will be (25-35) kmph. Wind speed may increase up to (45-55)kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil, and from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai.

General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Mainly fair weather will prevail elsewhere in the island.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

The prevailing showery condition over the island is expected to be temporarily reduced from 08 to 11 February.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in Galle, Matara and Badulla districts during the early hours of the morning.
A few shower may occur in the Uva province and in Matale, Nuwara-Eliya, Ampara, Batticaloa and Polonnaruwa districts.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 p.m.
Fairly strong winds about (30-40) kmph can be expected at times over the Eastern slopes of the central hills, Northern, North-central and North-western provinces and in Matale, Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
