Showers in Western, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces and Galle, Matara, Ampara and Batticaloa districts

A few showers will occur in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts while showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva province and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the evening or night. Mainly fair weather will continue elsewhere over the Island.
Winds will be south-westerly and speed will be (25-30) kmph. Wind speed may increase up to (45-50) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil, and from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil and from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar may be rough at times.
General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

The atmospheric disturbance to the North of the Andaman Islands in the Bay of Bengal, is likely to develop into a low pressure area within the next 24 hours.
Due to its influence, wind speed over the Bay of Bengal sea areas will increase during the next few days starting from
tomorrow (19th).
The wind speed in the sea areas marked under the “Advisory” category on the map below will increase to 55-65 kmph at times and those sea areas will be rough or very rough at times.
Navel and fishing communities engaging the activities over this sea area are advised to be vigilant and be attentive to the future forecasts and bulletins issued by the department of Meteorology in this regards.

Showery weather in the Southwestern parts of the island is likely to increase during the next few days starting from today (19th).
Showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya Districts.s Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in the Sabaragamuwa province and in Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Uva province and in Mullaittivu, Batticaloa and Ampara districts after 2.00 p.m.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Showers will occur at times in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya Districts. Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in Galle, Matara, Kaluthara and Rathnapura districts.
Several spells of showers will occur in the North-western province.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Uva and Eastern provinces and in Mullaittivu and Polonnaruwa districts after 1.00 p.m.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
