Rishad brought to parliament in protective clothing

SJB Vanni District MP Rishad Bathiudeen was brought to Parliament yesterday from remand custody. He was in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as a precaution as he was undergoing quarantine.

MP Bathiudeen, who was taken into custody on Monday and subsequently remanded, was brought to parliament by prison authorities following a written request from the Serjeant-at-Arms .

The MP was also allocated a special seat inside the Chamber.

Party Leaders in parliament decided to facilitate the MP to attend sittings in keeping with the Parliament (Powers & Privileges) Act.
