Ranil is flying showing his colours

Almost all Lankan voters, even those who never voted for him or his party, considered Ranil Wickremesinghe an intellectual gentleman who valued democracy and held some upright principles. They guessed he would never accept any position in the government as he even refused to enter Parliament as a National List MP for months after the last election.
Oh what a disgrace! He who polled around 25,000 votes at the general elections, shamelessly grabbed the premiership which was rejected by two presidential candidates who received 55 and four lakhs of votes respectively. They turned down the offer as the ex-president had not agreed to their conditions.
Ranil never revealed his conditions for accepting the prime ministry. His actions so far suggests that he is a weak and cunning person who wishes to use force to sustain his rule. He showed an uncommon friendliness towards the police and armed forces by visiting them at hospitals and alighting from his vehicle and chatting with them at road barriers.
Early on Friday morning he demonstrated to the whole world the reasons for that unusual friendliness. As shown in some social media he may be on a vicious path to stamp down on the people who never elected him to lead the country. At the same time he would do every possible thing to safeguard the Rajapaksas who made the way for him to reach the pinnacle never given to him by the people. Batalanda may not be far away.
