Most senior High Court Judge elevated
High Court Judge Vikum Athula Kaluarachchi was yesterday sworn in as a Court of Appeal judge before President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat.
The appointment was made to fill the post left vacant following the retirement of the Court of Appeal Justice Devika Abeyratne. An alumnus of Royal College, Colombo, Justice Kaluarachchi graduated from the Colombo Law College and later entered the legal profession. Justice Kaluarachchi has served as a Magistrate, a District Judge, a Judge of the Criminal High Court and the Civil Appellate Court for 27 years out of his 33 years of service. He was also the most Senior Judge of the High Court. Principal Advisor to the President Lalith Weeratunga was also present.
