Lions donate 25 washing machines, 1350 PPEs to Health Ministry to fight coronavirus

The District 306 B 2 Lions Club on Saturday handed over 1350 personal protective clothing (PPE KITS) and 25 washing machines to the Ministry of Health with the aim of further strengthening the Covid treatment services in the country. The value of these personal protective clothing and washing machines is around Rs. 3.5 million.

Lion Anura Dissanayake, District Secretary of District 306 B 2 Lions Club and Lion Gerald Caldera, Senior Coordinator handed over the donation to Secretary to the Ministry of Health Maj. Gen. Dr. Sanjeewa Munasinghe.

The donated items will be provided for the benefit of the staff of the Covid treatment centers all over Sri Lanka.

Dr. Asela Gunawardena, Director General of Health Services, Dr. S. Sridharan, Deputy Director General -Planning and a group of officials representing District 306 B 2 Lions Club also participated at the event.

CBSL presents Financial Statements and Operations Report 2024 to President

The Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, officially handed over the Financial Statements and Operations Report 2024 of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka to President Anura Kumara Disanayake at the Presidential Secretariat on Tuesday (29).

A copy of the report was also presented to Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake.

Several senior officials from the Central Bank were present at the occasion.

The general public are warned that the Heat index, the temperature felt on human body is likely to increase up to ‘Caution level’ at some places in Northern, Eastern and North-central provinces and Monaragala and Hambantota districts

The Heat Index Forecast is calculated by using relative humidity and maximum temperature and this is the condition that is felt on your body. This is not the forecast of maximum temperature. It is generated by the Department of Meteorology for the next day period and prepared by using global numerical weather prediction model data.

Effect of the heat index on human body is mentioned in the above table and it is prepared on the advice of the Ministry of Health and Indigenous Medical Services.

ACTION REQUIRED

Job sites: Stay hydrated and takes breaks in the shade as often as possible.
Indoors: Check up on the elderly and the sick.
Vehicles: Never leave children unattended.
Outdoors: Limit strenuous outdoor activities, find shade and stay hydrated.
Dress: Wear lightweight and white or light-colored clothing.
