Italian cuisine at Villa Roma

Italian Ambassador Damiano Francovigh hosted an evening of Italian cuisine at Villa Roma last week to launch the 9th Worldwide Week of Italian Cuisine.

This grand celebration of Italian cuisine reflected the Italian culinary traditions and flavours. This year’s theme was Mediterranean/Diet and Italian culinary roots, health and tradition focused on the unique flavours of five different regious of Italy, namely Friuli, Campania, Lazio, Ligurio and Puglia. Meanwhile some of Colombo leading hotels Cinnamon Grand, Shangri La and Taj Samudra hotel joined in to celebrate the authentic taste of Italian cuisines with five specialised Italian chefs flown for this special occasions.

The highlight of this evening was the presentation of specialised Italian cuisine by chef Daniele Cinel, he showcased a fine array of dishes from the region of Friuli,i a fabulous gastronomic experience for the diners to taste the authentic flavours from the region of Friuli in italy.

The celebrations kicked off with the grand opening of the Kavili Kade (sweetmeat shop) on Sunday, April 6th at 4:30 PM. Visitors were treated to a vibrant cultural spectacle featuring traditional dancing, music, games, and dramatic performances. Distinguished guests including corporate partners, business associates, ambassadors, and media representatives attended this colorful inauguration.

The hotel’s courtyard was transformed into an eco-friendly Avurudu Market, showcasing special New Year items, homeware, and decorative pieces. Following the grand opening, the Kavili Kade will welcome guests daily from 10 AM to 8 PM until April 13th.
