IODEX, leading specialists in pain relief, conducted a 17-day social welfare program from March 3 to 19th, where thousands of pilgrims and devotees were given relief by reducing the physical pains they would face while making the arduous trek to the summit of Sri Pada.

A press release said: ‘Since the launch of ‘IODEX SUVASAHANA’ care project six years ago, under the theme “Don’t let pain stop you”, IODEX has provided this relief at multiple religious landmarks. With the launch of the initiative this year, the program was conducted in Sri Pada where IODEX administered relief to devotees having head, neck, back and other bodily aches and pains that come with embarking on such a journey. By bringing relief to devout pilgrims, IODEX hopes to ensure a pain and obstacle-free experience to those worshiping Sri Pada and help them to completely immerse in the spiritual experience.

‘Pilgrims were able to obtain free head and foot massages at the IODEX Wellness Centers established at Sri Pada. In addition, Panadol, a flagship brand at GSK, supported IODEX in their initiative by providing Panadol Tablets for further effective relief.

Further, the ‘IODEX SUVASAHANA’ assigned a special team to help the pilgrims, especially the elderly, who face difficulties during the pilgrimage. The team was also ready to aid those who face accidents and injuries during the journey.

‘Chanaka Wanniarachchi, Country Head for GSK in Sri Lanka and Maldives, said, “Since ‘IODEX SUVASAHANA’ care project was launched 6 years ago, we have been a helping hand to pilgrims to improve their spiritual life and be able to fully experience these religious landmarks with minimal to no physical pain and we have successfully done this in various other sacred locations as well. We will continue this program for the relief of thousands of devotees in locations such as Mihintale, Kataragama and Nallur during special religious festivals like Vesak and Poson. Being one of the leading pain-relieving brands in the country, we are glad to have launched this initiative which helps us play a small role in giving back to our society in the best way we can.”

IODEX will continue this social outreach program by being available during the Sinhala-Hindu New Year, at Mihintale during the Poson Poya Period, Nallur in August, all poya days and any other religiously significant periods.
