Showers may occur at several places in Western and Southern provinces and in Puttalam, Mannar, Kilinochchi and Jaffna districts during the morning while showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in most provinces of the island after 2.00 p.m. Heavy showers about 100mm are likely at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Eastern and Uva provinces and in Polonnaruwa district.

Winds will be south-westerly or variable and wind speed will be (20-30) kmph. Wind speed may increase up to 40 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar.

The sea areas off the coasts extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar can be fairly rough at times but strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.

General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

The showery condition is expected to be enhanced in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northwestern and Northern provinces and in Galle and Matara districts during the next few days.

Fairly strong winds of about (30-40) kmph can be expected at times over North-western, North-central and Southern provinces and in Trincomalee district.
