Fairly heavy showers are likely at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces

WEATHER FORECAST FOR 27 JUNE 2025
Issued at 05.30 a.m. on 27 June 2025 by the Department of Meteorology 

Showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Nuwara-Eliya, Kandy, Galle and Matara  while showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva province and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the afternoon or night.  Fairly heavy showers about 50 mm are likely at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces.

Fairly strong winds of about (30-40) kmph can be expected at times over the  Western slopes of the central hills and in Northern, North-central and North-western provinces and in
Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in Galle, Matara and Badulla districts during the early hours of the morning.

Showers will occur at times in the Eastern, Uva and Central provinces and in Polonnaruwa and Hambantota districts. Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in the Uva and Eastern provinces and in Hambantota, Matale and Nuwara-Eliya districts. Several spells of showers will occur in the  Northern province and in Anuradhapura district. Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places elsewhere after 2.00 p.m. Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in the Rathnapura, Kaluthara, Galle and Matara districts.

Fairly strong winds about (30-40) kmph can be expected at times over the Northern and Northwestern provinces and in Matale, Trincomalee and Anuradhapura districts.
