Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in Galle, Matara and Badulla districts during the morning.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Northern, Eastern, North-central, Uva and Southern provinces and in Matale and Nuwara-Eliya districts. Fairly heavy showers about 75mm can be expected at some places in Eastern and Uva provinces and in Matale and Nuwara-Eliya districts. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere during the afternoon or Night.

Fairly strong winds of (30-40) kmph can be expected at times over Northern, Eastern, North-central and North-western provinces and in Matara and Hambantota districts.

Winds will be north-easterly in the sea areas and speed will be (30-40) kmph and can increase up to (50-60) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam and Mannar and up to (45- 50) kmph at times in the other sea areas around the island.

The sea areas off the coasts extending from Colombo to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam and Mannar will be rough at times while other sea areas around the island may be fairly rough at times. Strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western and Northern provinces and in  Anuradhapura, Galle and Matara districts. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva and Eastern provinces and in Polonnaruwa district after 1.00 pm. Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.

Fairly strong winds about (30-40) kmph can be expected at times over Western slopes of the central hills, Northern, North-central and North-western provinces and in Hambantota district.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

The low-pressure area located to the north of Sri Lanka is gradually weakening.

Due to the influence of the above system, Showers or thundershowers will occur at times and cloudy skies are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western and Northern provinces and in Galle and Matara districts while several spells of showers will occur in Anuradhapura district. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva and Eastern provinces and in Polonnaruwa district after 1.00 pm.

According to the today’s latest weather analysis, the low-pressure area located northeast of  Sri Lanka, still persists. The Department of Meteorology is continuously monitoring the behavior, development and path of the system.

Due to the influence of the above system, Showers or thundershowers will occur at times and cloudy skies are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western and Northern provinces and in Anuradhapura, Galle and Matara districts. Fairly heavy showers about 75 mm are likely at some places in these areas. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva and Eastern provinces after 1.00 pm.
