Fair weather will prevail in most districts

Several spells of light showers will occur in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the evening or night.
Mainly fair weather will prevail elsewhere over the Island.
Winds will be south-westerly and speed will be (25-35) kmph. Fairly strong winds about 40 kmph can be expected at times in western slopes of the central hills, Northern and North-Central provinces, and in Hambantota and Trincomalee districts. Wind speed may increase up to (50-60) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil and in the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil and the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai will be rough at times. The other sea areas around the island may be moderate.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, Northern and North-central provinces during the morning.
Showers may occur in the coastal areas of the Western and Southern provinces and in Puttalam, Mannar, Jaffna and Ampara districts in the morning while showers or thundershowers will occur at most places of the island during the afternoon or night. Fairly heavy rainfall of above 75 mm are likely at some places in Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, North-central, Southern and Eastern provinces.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
