Fair weather will prevail in most districts

Several spells of light showers will occur in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the evening or night.
Mainly fair weather will prevail elsewhere over the Island.
Winds will be south-westerly and speed will be (25-35) kmph. Fairly strong winds about 40 kmph can be expected at times in western slopes of the central hills, Northern and North-Central provinces, and in Hambantota and Trincomalee districts. Wind speed may increase up to (50-60) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil and in the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil and the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai will be rough at times. The other sea areas around the island may be moderate.

Showery condition is expected to be enhanced in the Southwestern part of the country up to some extent from today (12) evening.
Several spells of showers will occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts while showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in Central, Uva and Eastern provinces after 1.00 p.m.
Fairly strong winds of about (30-40) kmph can be expected at times over Northern, North-central, North-western and Southern provinces.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

A few showers may occur in Western province and in Puttalam, Galle, Matara and Rathnapura districts in the morning while showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, Southern and Northern provinces and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 1.00 p.m. Fairly heavy falls above 50 mm are likely at some places in Uva provinces and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
