CSE goes down to 100 points but witnesses late recovery

The stock market yesterday at the outset noted a sluggish performance and went down to 100 points but later recovered, market analysis said.
Due to volatile situation both indices moved downward. The All Share Price Index went down by 56 points, while the S and P SL20 went down by 20.7 points. Turnover stood at Rs 3.2 billion with nine crossings.
Those crossings were reported in HNB, which crossed 2 million shares to the tune of Rs 228, JKH 10 million shares crossed to the tune of Rs 210; its shares traded at 21.30, PGP Glass 2.5 million shares crossed to the tune of Rs 25 million and its shares traded at Rs 30,Halyey Fabrics 900,000 shares crossed for Rs 45.4 million; its shares traded Rs 30, Singer (Sri Lanka) 2.1 million shares crossed to the tune Rs 41.8 million; its shares traded at Rs 19.80, Dipped Products 925,000 shares crossed to the tune of Rs 36 million; its shares sold at Rs 39, Commercial Credit 674,000 shares crossed to the tune of Rs 28 million; its shares traded at Rs 41.50, Commercial Bank 200000 shares crossed for Rs 23.2 million; its shares fetched Rs 110 and Valibel One 400,000 shares crossed to the tune of Rs 21.8 million and its shares traded at Rs 54.50.
In the retail market top performing companies were JKH, Commercial Bank, Pan Asian Bank, Access Engineering and Hayleys Fabrics. The manufacturing sector was the highest contributor to the turnover. During the day 117.4 million shares volumes changed hands in 18063 transactions.
Yesterday, the rupee opened flat at Rs 293.00/05 to the US dollar, dealers said, from 293.00/15 on the previous day, while bond yields were steady.
A bond maturing on 15.12.2027 was quoted at 11.45/50 percent, from 11.40/55 percent.
A bond maturing on 15.03.2028 was quoted at 11.65/75 percent, down from 11.68/78 percent.
A bond maturing on 15.06.2029 was quoted stable at 11.95/12.05 percent.

A fresh chapter for the George Keyt Foundation: A renewed commitment to the Sri Lankan art ecosystem
The George Keyt Foundation (GKF), dedicated to preserving the legacy of modernist painter George Keyt and fostering local art, has announced strategic appointments to its leadership team, bringing together a mix of global academic expertise, corporate leadership, and artistic passion. These enhancements aim to inject fresh expertise and academic depth into the Foundation’s long-term vision.
Establishment of the New Advisory Committee
To broaden its operational reach and deepen its engagement with the global art market, the George Keyt Foundation has established an Advisory Committee. The newly appointed committee members include:
• Dr Sujatha Meegama is a Senior Lecturer in Buddhist Art History at the Courtauld. She is an acclaimed art historian, author and academic, bringing specialised knowledge in South Asian art history to guide the foundation’s curatorial and educational directives.
• Dr Shamil Wanigaratne: A clinical psychologist, author, and avid art historian, Shamil will lend his unique perspective to help the foundation design meaningful public outreach and cultural preservation strategies.
