Carsons and Bukid Darah share prices continue upward trend

CSE activities were positive yesterday and Carsons Cumberbatch and Bukid Darah together contributed the highest intra day points to the All Share Price Index and the S and P SL20 Index since 2011, stock market analysts said.Both companies’ share prices moved up significantly, while banking sector counters and manufacturing sector counters marginally changed. Both indices moved upwards; i.e., the All Share Price Index by 169.16 points and S and P SL20 by 16.43 points.

Carsons shares started trading at Rs. 255.70 and at the end of the day they moved up to Rs. 370. This was a Rs. 114.30 or 44.7 percent increase, which contributed 51 points to the All Share Price Index and Bukid Darah shares started trading at Rs. 297.70 and at the end of the day it shot up to Rs. 518.90, which was a Rs. 221.20 or 73.3 percent increase of its share price, which contributed 52 percent to the All Share Price Index.

The turnover stood at Rs. 1.9 billion with a single crossing. It was reported in Commercial Bank, which crossed 295,300 shares to the tune of Rs. 23.9 million; its share price trade at Rs. 81.

In the retail market top five contributors to the turnover were; Expolanka Rs. 220.7 million (19.9 million shares traded), Hemas Holdings Rs. 103.4 million (1.37 million shares traded), Tokyo Cement Rs. 64.1million (1.23 million shares traded), Hayleys Fabrics Rs. 62 million (2.68 million shares traded) and Lanka IOC Rs. 59.6 million (2.25 million shares traded). During the day 217.7 million share volumes changed hands in 2302 transactions.
