Underworld gangs clash in Ahungalla

Two armed members of a criminal gang shot and wounded a close relative of the underworld figure known as Loku Patti on Thursday (09) morning at Ahungalle.
The suspects fled the scene immediately after the attack.
The victim, identified as Loku Petti’s uncle sustained injuries and was admitted to hospital.
The attack occurred while the victim was inside a three-wheeler around 5:45 a.m. The assailant, armed with a pistol, shot him before escaping. Although the victim survived, he suffered a gunshot wound to his hand.
Police suspect the shooting stems from a prolonged conflict between the gang led by Loku Patti and another gang headed by Kudu Madusha, a notorious drug trafficker. The police believe that the attack may have been orchestrated by Kudu Madusha’s sons.
Loku Patti, alleged to have masterminded the murder of Club Wasantha, is currently detained in Belarus.
The feud between the two gangs has reportedly resulted in several murders over time.
Kudu Madusha is believed to be managing his drug trafficking network in Sri Lanka while residing in Dubai, according to police sources.The investigation into the shooting is being carried out by the Ahungalla Police under the supervision of Elpitiya Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) A. Randenia.

Draft of the Appropriation Bill for the Financial Year 2027 su mitted to the Parliament
Approval of the Cabinet of Ministers was granted to the preparation of the Appropriation Bill for the financial year of 2027 at their meeting held on 30.06.2026.
Accordingly, clearance of the Attorney General has been given to the Appropriation Bill prepared by the Legal Draftsman.
Therefore, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the resolution furnished by the President in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development to publish the aforementioned draft bill in the government gazette notification and thereby submit the same to the Parliament for its concurrence.
