Suwa Diviya ‘Live Well Health Fair’ brings health and wellness to Colombo
Suwa Diviya, a non-profit initiative dedicated to combating the rising incidence of diabetes, last week announced the ‘Live Well Health Fair’—the first event of its kind in Sri Lanka. The fair will take place on Saturday (30) at the Arcade Independence Square, Colombo 07, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
The event primarily targets the public, including children, the youth, and senior citizens alike, and aims to raise awareness of the crucial need to lead a healthy lifestyle void of non-communicable diseases detrimental to health and well-being, a news release said.
“The health initiative, a brainchild of Suwa Diviya is based on the strong belief that health education and awareness are quintessential elements that need to be integrated with modern lifestyles,” it said.
“Given the increasing rate of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and obesity rampant among the younger population, the ‘Live Well Health Fair’ would serve as a real eye-opener and game changer, empowering individuals to tap into the knowledge and tools required to lead healthier lives.
“The health fair would provide the public an opportunity to engage in knowledge-sharing activities and obtain professional insights on how to lead a healthy lifestyle.”
It further explained that whille the health fair would be a unique and innovative approach tailored to meet the requirements of all age groups, individuals can avail the opportunity for free health screenings, including a check-up of the Body Mass Index (BMI), blood glucose levels, vision tests, and blood pressure levels, feet assessment for diabetics.
Exclusive deals will be available for healthy food and wellness products representing leading brands such as Abans PLC, Paan Paan, CIC, Easy Kitchen, Nawaloka, Caretech, Sunshine Tea, Healthguard, and Green Leaf Products.
“The public would have a unique opportunity to experience and participate in healthy cooking demonstrations and fitness activities and enhance their knowledge of practical nutrition tips. Individuals can also test their knowledge and engage in fun physical activities curated to promote awareness of a healthy lifestyle,” it said.

ComBank tops banking sector in LMD’s first Corporate Happiness Index
The Commercial Bank of Ceylon has been ranked No 1 among Sri Lankan banks in the inaugural Corporate Happiness Index (CHI) just released by LMD magazine.The Bank has also been ranked one of Sri Lanka’s “happiest second homes” taking fifth place overall in the ranking, following the high positions it achieved in the 16 attributes that made up the survey conducted by PepperCube Consultants for this pioneering initiative.
Remarkably, Commercial Bank was the highest-ranked bank in 14 of the 16 attributes, leading the banking sector in several fundamentally-important aspects related to employees, such as ‘Remuneration scales,’ ‘Rewards & Perks,’ ‘Career progression,’ ‘Work environment,’ ‘Gender balance,’ ‘Health & wellbeing,’ ‘Work-life balance,’ ‘Workplace diversity,’ and ‘Workplace flexibility.’
Commercial Bank was also ranked No 1 in the banking sector for ‘Financial stability,’ ‘Corporate leadership,’ ‘Workplace camaraderie,’ ‘Open culture’ and ‘Recreational facilities.’
Besides its emphatic leadership in the banking sector, the LMD Corporate Happiness Index ranked Commercial Bank among the top five corporate entities in Sri Lanka across all sectors, in 10 of the 16 attribute rankings, and among the top ten overall, in 15 of the attribute rankings.
The Bank was ranked second overall for the attributes of ‘Financial stability’ and ‘Workplace camaraderie,’ third for ‘Career progression’ and fourth in Sri Lanka for ‘Workplace diversity’as well as ‘Workplace flexibility.’

Ceylinco Life closes 2024 with 13 awards for financial reporting and brand excellence
Sri Lanka’s life insurance market leader Ceylinco Life has brought 2024 to a close on a victorious note, winning a total of 13 awards, 11 for distinction in financial reporting and two for brand excellence.
