Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts. Heavy showers about 100mm are likely at some places in the Sabaragamuwa Province and in Galle, Matara, Kalutara and Colombo districts. Several spells of showers will occur in the North-Western province as well.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Uva province and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the evening or night.
Strong winds about (40-45) kmph can be expected at times in western slopes of the central hills, Northern and North-Central provinces and in Hambantota, Puttalam and Trincomalee districts.
Winds will be south-westerly over sea area around the island and speed will be (25-35) kmph.
Wind speed may increase up to (50-60) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai and from Hambantota to Pottuvil. Wind speed may increase up to (40-50) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai and from Hambantota to Pottuvil will be rough at times. The sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle will be fairly rough at times.
There is a possibility to increase swell waves (about 2.0 – 2.5 m) in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.

The low-level atmospheric disturbance is currently established to the southeast of the island.
Showers will occur at times in the Eastern and Uva provinces and in Nuwara-Eliya, Matale, Polonnaruwa, and Mullaittivu districts. Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in the Eastern province and in Nuwara-Eliya, Matale, Badulla, Polonnaruwa, and Mullaittivu districts.
Several spells of showers will occur in the Anuradhapura, Jaffna, Kilinochchi and Vavuniya districts. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 p.m.
Strong winds up to 50 kmph can be expected at times over the Eastern slopes of the central hills, the Northern, North-central, North-western and Eastern provinces and in Hambantota, Gampaha, Colombo and Monaragala districts.

The low-level atmospheric disturbance located to the east of Sri Lanka continues to influence the island’s weather. Accordingly, showery condition is expected to enhance over the Northern,
Eastern, and Uva Provinces during the coming days from January 5th
Showers will occur at times in the Eastern and Uva provinces and in Polonnaruwa, Matale and Nuwara-Eliya district.
A few showers will occur in the Anuradhapura and Hambantota districts. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kaluthara, Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 p.m.
Strong winds up to 50 kmph can be expected at times over the Eastern slopes of the central hills, the Northern, North-central, North-western and Eastern provinces and in Hambantota, Gampaha, Colombo and Monaragala districts.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in Galle and Matara districts during the early hours of the morning.
Showers will occur at times in the Eastern, Central, North-central and Uva provinces and in Hambantota district. Fairly heavy showers about 75 mm are likely at some places in the Eastern and Uva provinces and in Matale, Nuwara-Eliya and Polonnaruwa districts.
Several spells of showers will occur in the Northern province.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places elsewhere after 2.00 p.m.
