Showers about 75 mm are likely at some places in the Sabaragamuwa province and in Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts

Prevailing showery and windy condition over the south western parts of the island is expected to continue.

Showers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in Galle and Matara districts. Fairly heavy showers about 75 mm are likely at some places in the Sabaragamuwa province and in Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts. Several spells of showers will occur in the North-Western province.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva province and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the evening or night.

Winds will be south-westerly and speed will be (30-40) kmph. Strong winds about (45-50) kmph can be expected at times in western slopes of the central hills, Northern and North-Central provinces, and in Puttalam, Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.

Wind speed may increase up to (60-70) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Trincomalee to Pottuvil via Kankasanthurai, Mannar, Puttalam, Colombo, Galle and Hambanthota.

The sea areas off the coast extending from Trincomalee to Pottuvil via Kankasanthurai, Mannar, Puttalam, Colombo, Galle and Hambanthota will be rough or very rough at times.

Naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant as it is dangerous to engage in activities in the above sea areas. Other sea areas around the island will be fairly rough.

Increase of swell waves (about 2.5 – 3.0 m) can be expected in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Puttalam, Colombo, Galle and Hambanthota

General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

The showery condition is expected to enhance to some extent in the south-western part of the Island in the next few days starting from today (10th), due to the development of atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, North-western, Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern   provinces. Heavy showers above 100mm are likely at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts while showers or thundershowers will occur elsewhere at several places in the island during the evening or night.Fairly heavy showers above 75mm are likely at some places.

Winds will be Westerly to south-westerly in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Mannar to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle.  Wind speed will be (30-40) kmph and can be increase up to (50-60) kmph at times. Winds will be variable in direction and wind speed will be (25-35) kmph in the other sea areas around the island.

The sea areas off the coasts extending from Mannar to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle can be fairly rough at times and  other sea areas around the island can be slight to moderate. Strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.

Fairly heavy showers above 75mm are likely at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western, Uva and Eastern provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.

Winds will be South-westerly or Variable in direction and wind speed will be (25-35) kmph. Wind speed can increase up to (45-50) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending fromKankasanthurai to Hambanthota via Mannar, Colombo and Galle.

The sea areas around the island can be slight to moderate while the sea areas off the coasts extending from Kankasanthurai to Hambanthota via Mannar, Colombo and Galle can be fairly rough at times. Strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts and elsewhere in the island during the afternoon or night. Heavy showers above 100 mm are likely at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Eastern provinces and in Galle, Matara and Puttalam districts.

Winds will be South-westerly in direction and wind speed will be (25-35) kmph. Wind speed can increase up to (45-50) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Kankasanthurai to Hambanthota via Mannar, Colombo and Galle.
