Andre Fernando,was re-elected President of the Sri Lanka-France Business Council at its 21st annual general meeting held at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce auditorium recently. Fernando is a well known figure in the aviation circles, entrepreneur, and Chairman of MAC Group of Companies. Fernando in his address said the SLFBC has laind emphasis on vigorous tourism promotions and attracting investors to the country.

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal presented by the Minister of Buddhism, Religious, and Cultural Affairs to provide tax relief on imported dates received as donations or gift for Ramadan.

This year’s Ramadan fasting season is scheduled to begin on 19-02-2026 and end on 21-03-2026.
