Kala Pola 2025: Open-air art fair returns for its 32nd edition

Open-air art fair, Kala Pola, is scheduled to be held on Sunday (16) at Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha (Green Path), Colombo 07. The event, now in its 32nd edition, continues to showcase the rich diversity and creativity of Sri Lanka’s visual arts community, said a release.

Kala Pola was first conceptualised by The George Keyt Foundation in 1993. Over the years, it has become a key event on Colombo’s art calendar, offering a platform for painters, sculptors, portrait artists, and cartoonists of all levels to present their work.

Malaka Talwatte, Chairperson of The George Keyt Foundation, emphasized the event’s importance, stating, “Kala Pola has grown into a significant event that supports Sri Lankan art while offering artists opportunities that could transform their careers.”

Kala Pola features a diverse array of artistic expressions, from intricate sculptures and caricatures to modern and traditional Sri Lankan art. The fair attracts art lovers, collectors, and tourists from around the world, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with art discussions, music, and cultural exchange.

The event continues to provide an equal opportunity for artists, whether emerging or established, to market their work to a broad audience with varied tastes and budgets.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved the resolution furnished bys the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs to extend Visas of those unable to leave Sri Lanka due to the
