CaFFE urges EC to take action against Governors

Violation of election laws:
By Rathindra Kuruwita
The Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE) has written to the Election Commission (EC), demanding an end to what it calls unlawful appointments made by the Governors of the Southern, Central and Northern provinces.
CaFFE has said the provincial Governors are appointing former heads of local councils as coordinators to the Presidential Secretariat, thus enabling them to misuse state resources.CaFFE has said that the nominations for the 2023 local council elections have not been cancelled and therefore it amounts to a blatant violation of the election laws to make such appointments. CaFFE has called upon the EC to summon the Governors of the Southern, Central and Northern provinces and take legal action against them.
