Walala dominate 800 metres relays

Ratnayake Central Walala dominated the 4×800 metres finals winning as many as three golds in the distance on Wednesday to add to the two golds they won on day one at the Schools Relay Championships at the Vincent Dias Stadium, Badulla.

The athletics stronghold of Central Province won the Under 16 boys’ (8:34.4 secs), Under 18 boys’ (8:22.3) and Under 20 boys’ (8:13.5 secs) events. Their only disappointment was in the Under 16 girls’ event where they had to settle for the silver behind Wangiyakumbura National School (Uva).

On day one they bagged the golds in the Under 18 and Under 20 girls’ 4×800 metres relays.

They were also the winners of the long distance medley in the Under 18 and 20 events on day one. (RF)
