Ven. Brahamavamso, who was held up at BIA for about 12 hours, sees no reason for inquiry
Ven. Ajahn Brahmavaṃso, a popular Buddhist teacher, who was left needlessly stranded at BIA recently, either deliberately or due to VIP movement that prevented him from boarding his flight to Australia, said that he sees no reason to conduct an inquiry into his delay.
Instead, the Sri Lankan government can conduct an inquiry on how they can have a better country with more forgiveness, he said addressing a gathering in Australia.
“I saw on a Sri Lankan news site that the Sri Lankan President had initiated an inquiry on what happened to me at the airport. He is supposed to be running a country. Instead, he has initiated an inquiry into why Ajahn Brahmawanso has missed his flight. Honestly, it goes totally overboard,” he said.
The Thera said he was not angry about missing his flight and that he understands that he missed the flight because someone made a little mistake.
“It’s not a big deal. So, instead of having an inquiry on why I missed my flight, instead have an inquiry on how you can have a better country with more forgiveness. Allow people to make mistakes. One thing I have noticed is when you are allowed to make mistakes, people make fewer mistakes. Most people make mistakes out of fear,” he said.
