Vaccination trial runs today at Piliyandala and Ragama
Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath yesterday told the media that the Ministry of Health would hold a COVID-19 vaccination trial today (23) at two separate locations.
Herath said the trial would take place at the Piliyandala Regional Hospital and the Colombo North Teaching Hospital.
It would help health officials to identify any shortcomings in the proposed vaccination programme and determine the number of persons that they could vaccinate in an hour and in a day, the DDGHS said.
He did not reveal the brand of the vaccine to be used. Meanwhile Attorney General Dappula de Livera had sought clarifications from the Director General of Health Services about the purchase agreements with India on acquiring the COVID-19 vaccine, State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne, the coordinating officer to the Attorney General told the media.
