US sanctions on Gen. Silva:Labour MP seeks UK stand

Labour lawmaker Siobhain McDonagh yesterday (25) sought the UK’s position on the US travel ban imposed on Commander of Sri Lanka Army Gen. Shavendra Silva, who is also the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).

MP McDonagh, who once accused the Sri Lankan military of killing 60,000 LTTE cadres and 40,000 civilians during the Vanni campaign asked Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, Elizabeth Tuss “what assessment she has made of the implications for her policies of the sanctions imposed by the US on General Silva.”
