Truth and Reconciliation
By Lynn Ockersz
Ill-concealed by the sands of time,
Skeletons continue to scramble out,
Telling inconvenient, face-reddening truths,
Of smoking guns never brought to justice,
Of equity undelivered or miscarried,
Pointing to the error of the land’s ways,
But also warning it to be reconciled ere long,
Lest the Isle wanders dangerously once again,
Down blood-splattered tracks of self-harm,
And drives home the brutal truth of nation-breaking.
