Hamas agrees to release hostages:
Hamas says it accepts parts of the US peace plan to end the war in Gaza, ahead of a Sunday deadline US President Donald Trump had set for their response. In its statement, Hamas says it will release all remaining Israeli hostages, but wants further negotiations on the proposal

Trump’s response:
Trump welcomed Hamas’ response, and urged Israel to stop bombing Gaza, saying he believes Hamas is “‘ready for a lasting peace”. In a video recorded in the Oval Office,  he thanks a series of countries he says helped broker the plan, including Qatar, Egypt and Saudi Arabia

Talks to resume:
Qatar also welcomed Hamas’ statement, and says it is coordinating with Egypt and the US to resume talks about implementing a ceasefire

The Dambulla Sixers bowlers kept Galle Gallants to 178 [Cricinfo]

Dambulla Sixers powered by an all-round performance from Marques Ackerman [2-27 and 35]  and an unbeaten 64 off 37 balls from Reeza Hendricks handed the Galle Gallants their first defeat in LPL 2026. The match, the 8th game in LPL 2026 was played on Wednesday [22nd July] at Dambulla. The Gallants used nine bowlers but were unable to restraint the Dambulla batsmen who won with six wickets in hand 23 balls remaining.
