Three-wheeler stolen from court car park run by retired cop

Police are on the lookout for a three-wheeler stolen from the Matara Kotawila court complex while its owner was at the court to pay a fine.A complaint has been filed with the Kotawila Police by the owner of the three-wheeler regarding its theft from the vehicle yard at the Matara Court Complex.

The three-wheeler owner visited the Matara Magistrate’s Court to pay a fine on April 1. Before going to the court, he had parked his vehicle in the public vehicle park and took a number from the yard’s supervisor. After completing his work, around 2:00 PM, he returned to find his vehicle missing. When inquired from the yard supervisor, he was informed that nothing was known about the vehicle’s whereabouts. Despite searching for his vehicle until evening, the owner could not locate it, and he then filed a complaint with the Kotawila Police.

Upon reviewing the CCTV footage from the yard, police officers observed that the three-wheeler was driven away by an individual. An investigation into the theft of the three-wheeler has now been launched. The vehicle yard is managed by a retired police officer, and lawyers also use the yard for parking their vehicles.The Kotawila Police are conducting further investigations.
