Thewmika leads SL youth team to Under 19 Asia Cup
Two players from Jaffna in SL Under 19 team
In a rare move selectors have picked two players from Jaffna in the Sri Lanka Under 19 team for the Under 19 Asia Cup which will commence in UAE this week.
Jaffna Central speedster Ranjithkumar Newton and St. John’s College paceman Kugathas Muthulan are the two players from Jaffna in the team skippered by Thurstan College player Vihas Thewmika. St. Benedict’s batsman Sharujan Shanmuganathan is the deputy to Thewmika.
Thewmika, is one of the eight players from Colombo schools to make the 15 member squad.
There are two players each from Thurstan, Royal and Dharmaraja.
Sri Lanka will commence their campaign against Nepal on November 29. They are drawn in group ‘B’ alongside Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Nepal.
