Stern action against plantation owners who mistreat or exploit workers – Manusha
Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara in reply to a querry raised by journalists said that he had instructed officials to take stern action against plantation owner’s who exploit or mistreat their workers.
The minister reiterated that the daily wage of Rs1000 which was being paid by nearly 99.9% of the estates was grossly insufficient and added that he would see that the sum was increased through a collective agreement between estate owners and workers trade unions.
