State Minister Nishantha scheduled to answer CA summons today

Puttalam District SLPP MP and State Minister Sanath Nishantha is scheduled to answer summons before the Court of Appeal, today (13).
Attorney-at-Law, Priyalal Sirisena, has complained to the Court of Appeal that Nishantha should be charged for contempt of court for having insulted the Magistrates.
Nishantha held a media conference at the party headquarters and said that he had been arrested and held in remand for two weeks but others who committed a similar offence were granted bail forthwith.
The petitioner, Sirisena, has said in his petition, that Sanath Nishantha should be ordered to explain to the Court why he should not be punished for contempt of court.
The petitioner has also requested the Court to direct the Attorney General to draft contempt charges against him under Article 105/3 of the Constitution.
President’s Counsel Upul Jayasuriya appears for the petitioner.
The Court of Appeal bench comprises Justice Nissanka Bandula Karunaratne and Justice R. Gurusinghe.
