Sri Lankan food fiesta –a major attraction at London’s Dorchester Hotel

Executive Chef Mario Perera thrilled diners with a scrumptious serving of typical Sri Lankan delicacies at a food fiesta at the Rooftop restaurant and bar of Dorchester Hotel, one of the best five-star properties in London.

The grand culinary event, which opened on May 10, will continue till the 30th.

The Sri Lankan born veteran offered excited guests a fascinating array of mouth watering dishes, and topping the menu were egg hoppers, rice flour and coconut milk pancake, seeni sambol bread, blue lobster kottu and cashew curry.

The Lankan food fiesta attracted big numbers as Sri Lankans and Britishers alike made a bee-line to relish a range of delectables under one roof.

Chef Perera was earlier part of the culinary team at the Taj Samudra in Colombo before he moved to London in 1995 to work as commis chef at The Dorchester.

 

After a 15-year stint there, he joined the Four Seasons Park Lane Hotel as executive sous chef and returned to The Dorchester in 2017 and was promoted executive chef in July 2020.

The Sri Lankan High Commission in London and Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau supported Chef Perera’s culinary endeavor.

President, the Cabinet of Ministers has decided to grant policy approval for the establishment of the Chartered Computer Institute of Sri Lanka and to instruct the Legal Draftsman to prepare a draft bill in line with the proposed objectives.

it has become essential to introduce appropriate revisions to the Drug Dependent Persons (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act No 54 of 2007 so that a proper formal mechanism can be  maintained in treatment and rehabilitation.

Accordingly, considering a resolution forwarded by the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to grant the policy approval to revise the Drug Dependent Persons (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act No 54 of 2007 and direct the Legal Draftsman to formulate a draft bill including the relevant amendments.
