South Korean Ambassador in Colombo Woonjin Jeong and Defence Secretary Gen. (retd.) Kamal Gunaratne on Thursday discussed the possibility of enhanced military ties between the two countries as well as trade and investment. The meeting took place at the Defence Headquarters Complex, Sri Jayawardenepura, Kotte.

The US conducts military exercises with both South Korea and Sri Lanka, though the former declined to join ‘Quad’ especially set up as a counter to  the growing Chinese power.

South Korea hadn’t been a supplier of armaments to Sri Lanka during the war though once the Navy procured some Fast Attack Craft (FACs) from Seoul.
