KANDY – Senior Vice President of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Professor Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa yesterday denied having taken any decision to act jointly with any other political party.

The Professor responded to the media in Kandy when asked whether the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) had taken a decision to coalesce with any other political party.

Prof. Piyadasa said the SLFP Central Committee had decided to strengthen the party by re-activating the former groups under the party, namely, United People’s Freedom  Alliance (UPFA) and   People’s United Front (Podujana Eksath Peramuna).

He added that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) would not in any way join any group other than a patriotic and leftist political group.

Recently SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekera talked about forming an alliance with the JVP, but the latter quickly dismissed the idea.
