SJB’s Nalin Bandara faults their leaders for not joining Aragalaya in 2022

The SJB would be running the country today in government ranks had its leaders paid heed to the demands of its members that they should support the 2022 Aragalaya protests, Parliament was told yesterday.

SJB Kurunegala District MP Nalin Bandara Jayamaha said that the party rank and file had demanded that the SJB join the Aragalaya campaign but the leadership had rejected those calls. “I can still recall that I and MP Mujubr Rahuman requested our leaders that we should go to the Galle Face and join the Aragalaya campaign when its members were assaulted. Actually, Mujibur and I had been there to meet the protesters. We called on our leaders to come there. Had they listened to us, we would have been in power, today,” the MP said.

“Mujibur do you not think that we would have been in the government today if our leaders had gone in support of the Aragalaya?” the MP asked.
