SJB backs pay hike demanad

The SJB has called on the government yesterday (31) to increase the salaries of public servants by Rs 20,000 each with immediate effect.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Opposition Leader’s Office in Colombo, SJB General Secretary and Monaragala District MP Ranjith
Madduma Bandara said the demand for a Rs 20,000 pay hike was reasonable.
“The last time their salaries were increased was in 2015 under the Yahapalana government. They received a pay hike of Rs 10,000 each. Since then, there have been no salary increases for public sector workers despite the rising cost of living.
