Sirisena’s refusal to make statement in court
A report says that former President Maithripala Sirisena has informed court that it is not necessary for him to make a statement in a court as he had already provided a statement to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). I believe a statement made to CID could be challenged but a statement made in courts, under oath, cannot be changed.
Hence I believe Sirisena should appear in court in person and make his statement. If he fails, he should be arraigned for contempt of court. Can anyone please educate us as we too can resort to the same.
