The Cyclonic Storm “FENGAL” [pronounced as FEINJAL] over Southwest Bay of Bengal has entered India by crossing north Tamil Nadu -Puducherry coasts at 11.30 p.m. on 30th November 2024 as a cyclonic storm. It is likely to move west-southwestwards slowly and weaken gradually into a deep depression during next 3 hours.
The influence of this system on the island’s weather is gradually reducing further. But, skies will be cloudy.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-western, and North-central povinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places elsewhere of the island in the evening or night.
Strong winds of (50-55) kmph can be expected at times over Northern, North-central, North-western, Western, Central and Southern provinces.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts during the early hours of the morning.
Showers will occur at times in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern and Central provinces. Fairly heavy falls above 50 mm are likely at some places in Mullaittivu, Trincomalee, Polonnaruwa and Matale districts. Several spells of shower will occur in Uva and North-western provinces. Showers or thundershowers are likely at several places in other areas of the island after 2.00 p.m, and fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places.

Fairly Heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in the Uva province and in Batticaloa and Ampara districts. Several spells of shower will occur in the Northern and North-Central provinces and in the
Hambantota district.
Showers or thundershowers are likely at several places in other areas of the island after 2.00p.m.

Mainly dry weather will prevail in most parts of the island.
