Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Kalutara, Ratnapura, Galle and Matara districts in the evening or night. Mainly dry weather will prevail elsewhere in the island.
Wind speed will be (20-30) kmph and winds will be north-easterly in the sea areas extending from Kankasanthurai to Matara via Trincomalee, Pottuvil and Hambantota, and winds will be north-easterly or variable in direction in the other sea areas around the island. Wind speed may increase up to (40-45) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Colombo to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam and Mannar and from Matara to Hambantota.

The South-West monsoon is gradually getting established over the island.
Showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa Northern and North-western provinces and in Anuradhapura, Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts. Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in the above areas. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva province and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 pm.
Fairly strong winds about (30-40) kmph can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the central hills, the Northern, North-central, North-western and Southern provinces.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
